Which classic cars do car-nostalgia readers still love, and which have aged badly? This report scores 441 car models by reader votes, pools them by decade, body style and origin, adjusts for each article’s overall tone with a same-article index, and sets it beside 15 polls on eras, colours, chrome and what readers would rather own.
Key findings
- 85–87% hearts for car models from the 1940s to the 1960s; every later decade scores lower, and 2000s models score lowest (49%).
- 86% / 85% / 84% for station wagons, muscle cars and concept cars; SUVs and crossovers trail at 47%, minivans at 44%.
- 60% for Japanese models, against 74% for American and 71% for European, and the gap holds within articles.
- 74% prefer lots of chrome to a clean, chrome-free look; 65% say good riddance to the 1970s vinyl roof.
